Located in East Sussex, Beacon Down Vineyard is an exciting, family owned vineyard producing still and sparkling wine.
Beacon Down vineyard occupies around 18 acres in the beautiful High Weald near Heathfield in East Sussex in England.
A designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the vineyard is set on gentle South East facing slopes with stunning views over to the South Downs.
Two fields on the site were planted with nearly 10,000 vines in May 2015 and have thrived on the sandstone slopes and Sussex sunshine.
Our first still wines - a Bacchus and a Pinot Gris are now available for sale.

Our dream of creating delicious single estate wine from England is perfectly realised in this dry, crisp and vibrant Bacchus. England’s answer to Sauvingnon Blanc, our first 100% Bacchus wine is bursting with citrus flavours, and notes of apples and pears. Harvested by friends and family in October 2017.
Come and experience our vineyard first hand and enjoy breathtaking views across to the South Downs in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Your tour will be led by the owners who will introduce you to English viticulture and the challenges and excitement of making wine in this country. Your visit will conclude with a tasting of the current wines.
Our very first wine from a small plot of carefully hand-tended vines. The grapes were the last variety to be picked on the vineyard in October 2017 to maximise ripeness and flavours and were harvested by Beacon Down friends and family. The resulting wine is soft and delicious with a tropical finish.
British-made jute bag carries up to 6 bottles of wine (75cl). Ideal for completing a lovely gift or for transporting your exciting English wine to show off to your neighbours.

Meet the owners
paul & al pippard
On holiday in 2012 we started having one of those ‘what if’ conversations and we decided that it was now or never. On our return we took action to realise a dream of owning a vineyard.
While still living and working in London, Paul took the first steps and gained his Diploma in Wine Production from Plumpton College.
In 2014 we started our search and spent some long days driving around the countryside, small baby in tow. After a few months of looking we found an ideal site just outside a little village called Cross-in-Hand.
We were immediately struck with the potential and fell in love with how beautiful it is here. We sold our flat in London and made the move to Sussex to start our new life.
We are currently juggling work with running the vineyard, but hope to make it a full time occupation one day.
We live in Lewes, East Sussex with our two young boys, Ossie and Rex.
The story of setting up the vineyard - from bare fields to our first harvest is shown in pictures below.
