This is our first sparkling wine from our vineyard, from the 2017 harvest. Made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes, this wine has been produced in the traditional method. It has been aged to create a refined sparkling wine with an excellent balance of fruit and complexity. Fine bubbles, a gentle mousse and fresh finish make this an absolute joy to drink at any celebration.
Our 2018 Bacchus reflects the glorious summer of 2018 with ripe fruit flavours of apples and pears. Refreshing and mouth watering - perfect for enjoying on a warm day - perhaps overlooking the beautiful vines at Beacon Down!
A fantastic wine from a small plot of carefully hand-tended vines. The 2018 grapes were plentiful and ripe with full flavour development. Carefully harvested by Beacon Down friends and family followed by a very cool fermentation has resulted in a wine that is subtle on the nose and delicious on the palate with flavours of stone fruit and a tropical finish.

Meet the owners
paul & al pippard
On holiday in 2012 we started having one of those ‘what if’ conversations and we decided that it was now or never. On our return we took action to realise a dream of owning a vineyard.
While still living and working in London, Paul took the first steps and gained his Diploma in Wine Production from Plumpton College.
In 2014 we started our search and spent some long days driving around the countryside, small baby in tow. After a few months of looking we found an ideal site just outside a little village called Cross-in-Hand.
We were immediately struck with the potential and fell in love with how beautiful it is here. We sold our flat in London and made the move to Sussex to start our new life.
We run all aspects of the vineyard - growing and tending to the vines, selling and packing up wine for delivery, leading the tours and providing our delicious picnics. Come and visit for a first-hand tale of the journey so far!.
We live in Lewes, East Sussex with our two young boys, Ossie and Rex.
The story of setting up the vineyard - from bare fields to our first harvest is shown in pictures below.
